Alchemy

Alchemy is known as "the Royal Art" (Ars Regia). The root of the word is the Arabic al-kimiya "black earth" a symbolic reference to the dark first Matter of the work, and a literal reference to the alluvial mud deposited by the Nile to form the soil of Egypt.

Historically, Mythologically and literally, Alchemy is the ultimate symbolic description of the transformation from the dark leaden physicality of earth bound consciousness to the refined gold of the spiritually illuminated being.

Symbols of Alchemy.

The primary symbol of Alchemy is the Philosopher's Stone. This is the highest most pure perfection of matter- the PRIMA MATERIA elevated to Godhead. It has the power to transform other matter with which it comes into contact and to raise it to its own perfection. It is capable of 'transforming lead into Gold'.

The four elements are an important part of Alchemy Fire, Water, and Air, with the fifth element- Spirit conceived of as the hub of the wheel of the four elements.

The three principles of Alchemy are called Sulphur, Mercury, and Salt- correlating to the astrological principles of Cardinal, Mutable and Fixed. Both Alchemy and Astrology derive from the hermetic tradition while Astrology studies the heavens ,Alchemy studies the earth "As above, so below".

The seven holy metals are related to the seven holy planets of Astrology.

Moon - Silver

Mercury - Quicksilver

Venus-  Copper

Sun  - Gold

Mars - Iron

Jupiter - Tin

Saturn _ Lead

These "ingredients" are metaphors for the Archetypes which influence and shape our destinies and correspond to the Major Arcana of the Tarot, the Kabalistic tree of Life and the Zodiacal signs and planets of  as interpreted by Astrology.

The Alchemical processes are expressed in our complexity our multidimensionality (psychological, mental, emotional and spiritual states of being).

As we undertake the Journey of Life, our life's experiences articulate with the stages of completion, maturing us to become Spiritual Alchemists, who consciously choose with dedicated focus to uncover, discover and recover the precious jewel within and to shine as a light bearer and beacon of hope for ourselves, humanity and the soul of the world- the Anima Mundi This is the Magnum Opus- The Great Work for this Monumental time of evolution and Spiritualization of mankind and our Earth.
